DuPont has opened a new Innovation Center in Troy,Michigan,US to increase the collaboration between its automotive customers and its 9,500 scientists and engineers worldwide.

Located inside DuPont's Automotive Development Center,the new center is the company's first in the US and fourth worldwide.

The company's other automotive centers are located in Pune,India;Seoul,Korea;and Nagoya,Japan.

DuPont executive vice president and chief innovation officer Thomas Connelly said that auto customers'expectations for energy efficiency and performance continually increase.

"The automotive industry must increase the rate at which new technologies are adopted,"Connelly said.

"DuPont R&D excels when we are able to collaborate with our customers.Our Innovation Center at Troy will accelerate introduction of new products and applications in support of the automotive industry."

The company provides about 100 materials and product families for the global automotive industry.
